Why don't my Audience Location or Technology reports match the # of my total downloads?
Why don't my Audience Location or Technology reports match the # of my total downloads?

Not all downloads have data in regards to their location, the apps or devices used.

Audience reports like Location and Technology will not always match the total downloads for a given timeframe, show or episode.  This is not an error, but a limitation in the amount of information that is reported back when a listener downloads an episode audio file.

When an audio file is downloaded, the requesting network passes on certain anonymized information about the request and the requester's device.  This information is used to build out your Audience Location and Technology reports.  If a network does not pass this information along (and they are not required to do so), we are unable to identify the location of the request, or other information like browser, operating system, application, etc.

So while a download may be a "real" download, based on our IAB standards, some of those downloads didn't include all the relevant information to report it in your Audience Location and Technology reports.
