If you are not ready to publish your podcast episode you can save it as a draft.

An episode is considered a draft if one or both of the following conditions are met:

  • It has no publication date.

  • It doesn’t include an audio file.

Here’s how you can create a draft episode:

  1. Log in to your Simplecast dashboard

  2. Select EPISODES from the header menu

  3. Click the ADD EPISODE button in the upper righthand corner

  4. Add an Episode Title

  5. Click the SAVE DRAFT button

Your draft episode will be displayed on the Drafts tab (next to the EPISODES tab).

Once you schedule your episode and add an audio file, the episode is considered ready to be released and is moved to the Episodes tab. Once it reaches its publication date, the episode is released.

Note: If a draft episode without an audio file reaches its publication date, the episode remains in the Drafts tab and does not go live.

Your episode is now saved as a draft, and will not be live until you add an audio file and assign a publication date.

📌 Quick Tip: If you visit your EPISODES page, you can filter episodes by Status type (Draft, Scheduled, Published) by clicking the dropdown menu and checking the boxes you want to sort.
