This article will show you step-by-step how to migrate your podcast from Soundcloud to Simplecast. We have made the process very easy and the good news is you will not lose any of your current subscribers.
The Overview (Steps):
-
Copy RSS Feed from Soundcloud
-
Verify your email address is listed as the default in Soundcloud settings.
-
Select CREATE NEW SHOW from the dropdown menu in the upper lefthand corner of your dashboard
-
Click IMPORT EXISTING SHOW
-
Paste the Soundcloud RSS Feed URL
-
Create a 301 Redirect on Soundcloud to forward your RSS Feed from Soundcloud to Simplecast and your subscribers will be automatically updated.
Step 1: Copy RSS Feed from Soundcloud
-
Log in to Soundcloud.com
-
Click the 3 dots (...) to the right of your profile image
-
Click 'Settings'
-
Click 'Content'
-
Copy RSS Feed to clipboard (cmd/ctrl + C)
Step 2: Set Your Email As Default on Soundcloud
By default, Soundcloud will set 'feeds@soundcloud.com' as the default email in the Soundcloud RSS feed which will prevent you from getting the confirmation email when importing your show to Simplecast. This is an easy fix.
-
Log into Soundcloud
-
Click the 3 dots to the far right of your profile picture
-
Click on SETTINGS
-
Click on CONTENT
-
In the field that says 'Email address displayed', click the dropdown and select your email (your email address is managed in the ACCOUNT tab of Soundcloud)
-
Once you have selected your email address in 'Email address displayed' click SAVE CHANGES at the bottom of the page
-
Refresh the browser window and verify that your email address is listed in 'Email address displayed' and not 'feeds@soundcloud.com'
Step 3: Import Show To Simplecast
-
Log in to your Simplecast dashboard
-
Click the arrow in the upper left next to your show cover art
-
Click 'Create New Show' in the drop-down menu
-
Click IMPORT EXISTING SHOW
-
Paste Soundcloud RSS Feed URL (cmd/ctrl + V)
-
Click IMPORT
Step 4: Create 301 Subscriber Redirect on Soundcloud
The 301 Redirect permanently forwards your Soundcloud RSS to Simplecast making sure you do not lose your subscribers. SoundCloud will keep this 301 redirect in place indefinitely for zero cost.
-
Copy your Simplecast RSS Feed from the DISTRIBUTION section of your dashboard
-
Log in to Soundcloud.com
-
Click the 3 dots (...) to the right of your profile image
-
Click SETTINGS
-
Click CONTENT
-
Paste Simplecast RSS Feed URL into the 'Subscriber Redirect' field
-
Click SAVE CHANGES
